INTRODUCTION OF THE FILM:

I just introduce the story of this documentary in part supported by the Polish Consulate in Milan.

I was studding in Krakow in years 1988/89, the time of the destruction of the Berlin’s Wall, at the academy of fine art, thanks to a scholarship. Was a time of transition. I used to go to the bar- cellar w Krzystoforach, where was possible to drink some tea and also some time assist to the Kantor’s rehearsals, and I had the occasion to met Kantor, the grate Theater master, many times.
5 years later I cam back to work an my thesis on Philosophy, on Ingarden, Ingarden was the pupil of Husserl, the founder of phenomenological thinking, his best scholar.

I came back to Krakow searching material and I met the Ingarden family, the two suns of the philosopher. When I came in their home, I was astonished: on the walls were hanging many familiar drawings and was not difficult to recognize the the unmistakable sign of Witkiewicz, very famous painter and writer . The Ingarden family showed me some letters from Witkiewicz and they gave me the letters to finish my thesis, In those times nobody new about those letters. This correspondence was published only 10 years later in Poland.
In the film I quote also an article written by Ingarden of the 1951, where he reminds his friendship with Witkiewizc and he describes his characters.

I compare the two estetical point of vew, very different from each other. , Witkiewicz was developing a Monadis biological philosophy, Ingarden came from a German Phemonoligacal tradition, but this different points of vew are in a certain way similar. Pur form is an attitude for Witkiewicz in the piece of art and also in the percever of the art, the spectator, for Ingarden: the piece of art exist only as intentional object, it means that only when the perceiver, the spectator, recognises in this object a piece of art.
